Two printed pages from the trivia file lying side by side on a pale cream surface, both slightly tilted. The left page is headed Round 1: for the kids and shows six numbered multiple-choice questions, each with three lettered options under it. The right page is headed Answers and lists all fifteen answers under three round headings, each question repeated in grey with its answer in black underneath. Both pages carry craftdot.com/free at the foot.

What is in the file

Eight pages, four of them the same four repeated. Pages 1 to 4 are US Letter: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and the answer key. Pages 5 to 8 are the identical four on A4. Print the set that matches your paper and leave the other half in the file.

Round 1 is for the kids. Six multiple-choice questions with three options each, and they are meant to be gettable, so a six-year-old finishes the round pleased with themselves rather than defeated. Which month, which day of the week, which bird, which pie.

Round 2 is for the grown-ups, and it is genuinely harder. Six multiple-choice questions about the Canadian holiday's own history. Most people at a Canadian table will not know why the first Thanksgiving after Confederation happened in April, and it is a good story when they find out.

Round 3 is three write-in questions with a line under each, for when two people finish level. There are no options to guess from, and closest wins.

The last page is the answer key. It repeats each question in grey with the answer under it in black, so whoever is reading them out is not flipping between pages.

How to print it

  1. Print only the pages that match your paper. Letter is pages 1 to 4, A4 is pages 5 to 8.
  2. Set Actual Size rather than Fit to Page if your print dialog offers the choice. Nothing here needs to be exactly sized, but Fit to Page shrinks the type for no reason.
  3. It is black on white throughout and the busiest page is under 5% ink, so a copy each for the whole table costs almost nothing.
  4. Keep the answer key back. It is the last page of each set, and it is the one page you do not want to hand out with the rest.

How to play it

Read the questions out loud rather than handing everyone a sheet, if you have more than about four people. It goes faster, and the arguing between questions is most of the fun.

If you are handing out sheets, give each person or team the two multiple-choice rounds and keep Round 3 back until you need it. Circle the answers, swap sheets with the next person along, and mark them as you read the key out.

Scoring that works: one point per correct answer in Round 1, two points in Round 2, and Round 3 only if there is a tie at the top. That way the kids stay in it and the adults still have to think.

Where these answers come from

The history questions come from The Canadian Encyclopedia's article on Thanksgiving in Canada, checked on 6 September 2026. The kids' round is general knowledge about the holiday itself.

Here are the dates, in case anyone at your table wants to argue with a printed page. The first Thanksgiving after Confederation was 5 April 1872, held for the recovery of the Prince of Wales from illness. It first became an annual event on 6 November 1879. From 1921 it shared its day with Armistice Day, until 11 November was set aside solely as Remembrance Day in 1931. Parliament fixed it to the second Monday of October on 31 January 1957.

One question we deliberately left out: whether Thanksgiving is a statutory holiday in every province. Sources disagree about which Atlantic provinces are the exceptions, and we would rather leave a question out than print an answer we cannot stand behind.

When it is this year

Canadian Thanksgiving is Monday 12 October 2026. The long weekend runs from Saturday the 10th.

Common questions

How many questions are in the Canadian Thanksgiving trivia printable?

Fifteen, split into three rounds. Round 1 is six multiple-choice questions easy enough for a child to get most of them right. Round 2 is six multiple-choice questions on Canadian history that most adults will not know all of. Round 3 is three write-in questions to break a tie. The answer key is the last page, so you can hand out the question pages and keep the answers to yourself.

Is Canadian Thanksgiving trivia the same as American Thanksgiving trivia?

No, and that is the reason this file exists. The two free Thanksgiving trivia sets we read on 5 and 6 September 2026 are both written around the American holiday in November, the Pilgrims and the Mayflower. These questions are about the Canadian one: the second Monday of October, the 1872 holiday for a prince who got better, the years Thanksgiving shared a date with Armistice Day, and the 1957 proclamation that finally settled it.

Will it print properly on A4 paper?

Yes. The file has the questions and the answer key laid out for US Letter first, then the same four pages again for A4, so nothing is scaled or cropped either way. Print the four pages that match the paper in your printer. Choose Actual Size rather than Fit to Page if your print dialog offers both.

Do I need to give you an email address to download it?

No. The link goes straight to the PDF. There is no form, no signup and no email, here or on any other download on this site.
